South Asian Unengaged Peoples-Gujarat is a very industrialized state in western India, largely because of its coastline and harbors. Its people are known to be resourceful businessmen, and enterprise itself is a cultural value. They tend to do business with people they trust and are connected globally. The number of Gujaratis in Rwanda is about 1,400. They are usually involved in import/export businesses, or they own motels and local shops. They are mostly Hindus, but they really worship the god of money. They are difficult to reach, and most Rwandan believers are too busy to reach them with the gospel. Please pray that the Lord will allow the Gujaratis to experience the reality that money does not satisfy. Ask the Lord to send harvest workers to share the gospel with them. Pray that the Lord will help them to find the satisfaction they are looking for in Christ alone.

Asian Pacific Rim Unengaged Peoples-The Kalmyk-Oirat are a branch of the Mongolian people who follow a religion that is a mix of Tibetan Buddhism, Taoism, and ancestor worship. Forms of black magic have been practiced for hundreds of years, and every New Year their prayers are offered up to Okeen Tenger, their female spirit protector. Less than 0.5 percent are Christians. Major community activities include dancing, a tradition that is being passed on to the youth within the family or through apprenticeship. “Lord, your good news is veiled to the Kalmyk-Oirat who are perishing. The god of this world has blinded their minds. Open their eyes to see your glory. Raise up mature Christians who will pass their faith to the next generation.”

Madagascar-Cyclone Batsirai crossed over the island, leaving death and destruction in its wake. The island was still recovering from Cyclone Ana, just weeks earlier. Pray for those who have suffered loss of life and property, that God will comfort them and supply their needs. God is our provider!

 

Mozambique-There is a war taking place along the coast of northern Mozambique. As the war against terrorism begins to fade in the eyes of some, a much greater war continues in the hearts of those still residing in the north. Please pray for Christians in the area. Pray that they will be unified and not give in to the weapon of division. Pray that they will hide God’s Word in their heart and that with this sword of the Spirit, they will crush the evil one’s tactics. Pray that they will take up their shield of faith and not be wounded by his temptations, but will stand firm, resist the devil, pray without ceasing, and fight boldly for the kingdom of light to shine over the darkness.

Malawi-Pray for the country as it recovers from tropical storm Ana. The storm passed over Madagascar, Mozambique and Malawi, leaving 80 dead. Another storm is brewing off of Mauritius, in the Indian Ocean.

 

Zoque (SO-kay) of Mexico –“Our team, which currently consists of our family of six, has been on stateside assignment for 18 months,” write missionaries Clay and Tammy Richardson. “Pray for the logistics of our return to Mexico, including travel to the villages, finding a new house, and being assigned a vehicle. Ask that we can get our feet on the ground and get back into ministry with a smooth transition. Pray for renewed friendships with the Zoque people.”
